Science-Based Personal Training
The fitness industry is becoming more and more popular as years go by. Anyone who is in shape and has a social media presence can leverage their platform to market themselves as a “personal trainer”, often coining terms like “science-based" to support their claims. They might say, for example, "based on all of the signs, this is the best exercise because... "
Our experts at Strata approach their profession from the perspective of exercise specialists and, as such, adhere to a scientific method:
sci·en·tif·ic meth·od
(noun)
A method of procedure that has characterized natural science since the 17th century, consisting in systematic observation, measurement, and experiment, and the formulation, testing, and modification of hypotheses.
This is one of the reasons why much of the information we at Strata share may conflict
with popular trends in fitness. The exercises we create for clients are truly customized
based off of individual physiology and biomechanics, so may seem unorthodox to
someone who is unfamiliar with the process.
We are committed to employing a scientific method to exercise because we recognize
that it is nearly impossible to make rigid claims about the dynamic human body given
each of us is constantly changing. As a result, tailored exercise is essential
in helping each client achieve their goals, avoid injury, and ultimately enjoy the
benefits of a mobile life for as long as humanly possible.
